Hello,

I still use my C-Scope 990xd on the beaches. its easy to use and quite deep once set up correctly. Setting it correctly is a skill and requires lots of practice, the procedure on the 990 is to lift it a foot off the air and adjust the sensitivity (whilst keeping the reset button held in) until the threshold is just audible.
once done release the reset button and lower to the ground, the threshold should rise a little. if it rises too much (if it blows your eardrums out!) set it up again and lower the sensitivity slightly.

it works in all soil conditions including the wet sand, it will wander off tune every once in a while so you need to hit the retune button which will bring it back to how you set it up originally.

i wouldn't part with it as it is very versatile and the iron separation is second to none.

If i am on the farm or pasture i tend to use my musketeer instead as it is a little deeper but that isn't to say the 990 is useless, it works brilliantly and the discrimination is really good.

ta,

I've used it on occasions Dean for checking for deep iron on iffy signals... if ya on v3i then read the manual, think its slightly different to set up now.... don't know what ya plans are, but if its to try the beach with it, IMO forget it...

I uses the non motion a lot.. Always set up in it before search. great for the pin point. Then v3.1 came.. And that is about the only good thing in v 3.1.. The non motion audio disc.. just run great ad smoot compared to 2.0 that was good. I would say that the 3.1 version you could search with ( I came from a SC 1220 XD) so eve that i have returned to 2.0 for the seach I like the NMAD i 3.1 still i always set up for this in 2.0 to tandem with..
