r;[ Just had message from one of the 'techies' at factory.

When you are updating make sure coil is NOT near any metal (I previously thought incorrectly that it would be OK) as it may program incorrect parameters to the coil. l;/

Update.. Problem solved
r;[ r;[ Alain at XP Metal Detectors stating "you can update the coils even if they are on a metallic surface", no problem at all ::g l;/ l;/

Lol, how the hell are you meant to avoid metal when your doing this from your computer in a house full of wires, pipes and random rubbish? B|

Really, they must think we do these things in a sterile environment surrounded by plastic!!!!!

Grr!

I've just gone back to V2 as mine was all over the place after installing V3.1. I have to say my coil was near a fair bit of metal when I updated it, do you reckon it's worth re installing V3.1 and trying again with it?

Woud be a great help if you or one of the other users of 3.1 would give it a test to establish if we all did it wrong... Could be, and in next week everyone is on 3.1 Speed..

I'll re install V3.1 and give it a try. Won't be until the middle of next week as I am working away from home until then. It might explain why some users think V3.1 is fantastic and why some like me had real problems with it.

Yes I am not surprised people are worried, I would of thought almost everyone who updated never took a second thought that having the coil near metal could cause an issue.

Anyway we will see ;)

IMPORTANT Update to this Thread

Just had confirmation back from Alain at XP Metal Detectors stating "you can update the coils even if they are on a metallic surface", no problem at all ::g

You only have to be careful before you switch the machine on for use that it is away from anything metal so at least 15 inch`s is recommended.

Cheers all
