Thanks for that, For goodness sake the councils would charge us to breathe the sea air if they could..... it doesn't say whether they have enforced this yet though.
I looked at the machines last time at Filey and could see nothing relevant.

Im thinking we should ALL be prepared for this kind of thing wherever we live ,prospect. IIn this case its the local council, but wherever there is money to be made private enterprise will step in and charge whatever the market will bear. The national trust allready has its nose in the trough, some of their car parks charge rather high fees where I am ....and they still charge in winter......its all a bloody racket. Noticed in the lake district this year parking fees on some beaches have doubled since last year....even pay parking to shop at sainsburys to name but 1.you would think the amount of car tax we have to pay that parking anywhere would be free ,or only a nominal cost. Its a sign o the times Im afraid.

If you're wanting to park near the beach yes you have to pay still and in the car parks. I suggest stopping off at the local supermarkets they have free visitor cards that you put in your windscreen and you're allowed about 3 hours (in most residential streets). There's a few streets in walking distance near the beach too. Hope that helps!

Thanks Michelle, it won't help me as I live in a fair and if I hit the east coast it is always for the full day otherwise it would not be worth the drive. It may help some though.
its getting to the point where it will end up cheaper to spend a weekend in an off peak B&B than drive up for a day!
I bet the local businesses are fuming with the councils as footfall over the winter season is going to take a hit.
I may just roll up and try to find on street parking outside parking Zones.
