Which head torch?

Hiya all....
As you know I do quite a lot of beach detecting,as well as land. At this time of year with the dark night upon us,you need a decent torch for detecting to see your finds amongst the sand.
I've bought some of the tesco's type head torches for around £10 but find I'd like a much brighter option.
Looking on various websites etc, there seems to be lots of choice but as you will appreciate it like a lot of things...how good they look and are described can be totally different to how they work in real life.
Which one would you recommend?....can't get better feedback other than from the users of them.
Cheers yellow

Hi Yellow,
Try looking up PETZL Pixa 3, they are a bit pricey but the mutz nutz. I use these on the beach and they are waterproof, very bright and batterys last ages.

Hi Yellow,
My husband does a lot of night fishing and he has head torches that have cost upto £80. A couple of years ago someone suggested he buy a Cree headlight of a certain auction site as a back up it cost £10. He got it and said you cannot beat them, he said it was better that the one that cost £80 and always uses the Cree as his main one and the dearer ones as the back up!!!!

Get one like mine yellow mate. Infra red switching. Wave your hand in front of it to turn it on, same again to turn it off.

I do a lot, and I mean a lot of night fishing so a decent head torch is essential . I use a led lenser h7 which originally ran off of 3 AAA batteries but I adapted it as you can see to use 4 D cell rechargables. The pack goes into a bum bag and I get at least two sessions out of them and the torch can be dimmed as needed. The original torch cos £50 and the battery pack cost about £15

Forgot to add , had one of those Cree lights, yes they are really bright but I found it was not up to the rigours of a busy fishing schedule , it fell apart after a couple of months

I use a Cree 160 Lumen head torch I brought for night fishing, and it cost £5.31 off eBay (item no. 310674264008) … Very very powerful, and before it arrived I was worrying it may not be strong enough so I brought a 1800Lumen one for £16.99 (The one mentioned above!)
But I'm amazed by how powerful this is

It easily reaches 100 yards
Feels like good quality and nice snug adjustable fit on your head

Lenser H7 but beware there are loads of counterfeit H7s on ebay. Seems like a real problem for them.

The Cree cycle lamps with a rechargable battery pack are amazing, as bright as a car headlamp, they come with a headtorch strap in addition to the handlebar mount, think I paid around £40 from amazon.
