Metal Detecting

Hi folk, has anyone been up to Bispham or blackpool recently, I am thinking about a day out tomorrow and wondered if the sand has been dumped on or moved off. I did go up a few weeks back and I usually park up by the road that goes off by the toilets but that was blocked off due to the bad weather when I did find somwhere to park I only had half an hour before snapping my spade rl; so before I have another go I thought I would ask if its worth the trip thanks in advance, jim

looking at some of the reports on the net i think the sands now on the golden mile mate and there isnt much left of the north pier.

but the weather looks ok tomorrow and low tide is 10.30 ish

cheers neil, I had checked the tide and the weather shouldn't be too bad. I think I will give it a go, at least the dogs will enjoy the day out

Not sure about Bispham but further towards Fleetwood there are a few lower
area's, a lot of the sand from marine hall got dumped over the breakwater
and on to the pier side

cheers paul, I don't really know the area so tend to go to the top end as parking is free and easy and to avoid the dogs getting to cold I can leave them for an hour in the car after they have run around like idiots.

i live 100m from bpool beach. was sanded in couple of weeks ago, probably 4 ft of sand on it. but its taken some off this week, still high mind but gulleys starting to form in last week and some cuts appearing. so it should improve the dirt fishin. hh

how did you get on jimbo, i got up this morning at 6.15 thought i might head over there and guess what its lashing it down here

I got their about 10am and the sun was out, the bad news is the beach had been dumped on with sand I stayed on the beach for about 3 hours & the best finds I got was a 2p & a small bullet cap with a u mark on it. I did see a newbee on the beach with a garrett 250 but I think all the goodies are quite deep at the moment. both dogs are now fast asleep I did manage to bend another spade are the stainless scoops up to a hard sand beach or are they for soft silky sand

never used a sand scoop jim so wouldnt know, i cant belive your bending spades in sand lol

I am a little heavy handed it was still a good day out as I seem to live at work. think I will leave the beaches for a few weeks now though in the hope it erodes back a bit, the 2p was a good 8 inch down and it looks like it was droped yesterday.
