Anyone detect Southport beach ?? Do you have much luck finding pre decimals?

Spent 3 hours there yesterday near the pier. Ended up with about 70 pence in modern coins mostly 1s and 2s. Also removed quite a lot of the usual rubbish.

Really want to find my first pre decimal so does anyone have any hints or tips for this beach ?

Have had and still have the same scenario with Southsea beach in Portsmouth,
After four years of detecting it, not one Pre-decimal coin , bearing in mind the
millions of people that have used it since Victorian times and beyond, not one,
unbelievable considering how long it is .

Picked up a detector from Liverpool last year so gave it a quick try while I was there.

Found a nice 1953 shillings in good condition and not badly worn or corroded at Crosby just down the road from Southport. Need a bit of perseverance as there is a lot small molten aluminum pieces. Was the only old coin but was only there for an hour or two.

Wounder if they have been taken out to sea in the last storms.
