Hi Guys

Brand new to this so was wondering if anyone fancied a bit of company on one of their sessions? I have just bought an Ace 250 so i am working on getting permissions.

There is a lot to learn so i'd be happy to just tag along and not detect as i am not able to return the favour as i have no land myself yet. I am just interested in learning as much as possible.

All the best

Andy

Hi Andy,

Did you find anyone ? ... I'm in the same boat and live near Filey.

Not bought a detector yet as I need to know if there are places to use it.

Steve

You could always go on the beach. I was at Scarborough beach on Sunday , never found much just some coins and a scaffold clamp but at least I was out detecting. I am from hull and I used the beaches at hornsea when I first started but make sued you get a license if you havnt already got one. They only cost £8 and will save you a big fine if the police come asking questions. Put it will give you a public liability insurance which will help when asking for permission. Good luck.

Hi, Sandsweeper,

The "licence" you refer to, at £8 and with public liability cover is, I suspect, an NCMD membership card and NOT a licence. You no longer require a Foreshore Permit from the Crown Estates to detect their shores, just agree to their code of conduct. Not all beaches are thus accessible and SSSIs,for example, are strictly out of bounds unless you can somehow wanngle special access.

Also, the original post is four years old so you're unlikely to get a response!
