Metal Detecting

Got all excited today when someone who was likely to be a good source of information told me that he knew the location of 2 crashed spitfires. After a few moments it was back down to earth - they are at the bottom of a lake! Grrrr.

Take up diving, m8 and it's problem solved, because it's just another form of detecting.

check if that location is logged....I was watching a Time Team episode on crashed spitfires and the team that were there to collect mentioned they should know where all the spitfires out and if recoverable (land or water) they would recover them

I'll be checking into this one more closely. My source is military although I can't trace anything through the usual channels. If its legit and I can access, I have the luxury of sophisticated sonar and an ROV that could be used to survey the bottom of the lake.
