Metal Detecting

Hi Everyone

Newbies at this, both this forum and metal detecting. My partner and I are going to do our first bit of detecting ( apart from playing in the back garden ) on Crown Estate Foreshore / beaches in the Southampton area next week.

Any advice on good areas on the foreshore to practice would be appreciated.

We're going to Thanet later in the week and have already been able to glean some useful info about beaches in the area from these forums, so thank you everyone.

Good hunting cant help as i don't know the area.

Lots of WW2 activity in that area, aerial combat and preparations for D Day.

Any good areas to practice around Portsmouth or Lymington? As they are also in easy reach of our hotel.
