Deus chatter

Went out on an early morning foray on grass 2-3 inches long after heavy overnight rain followed by a light dew. Noticed quite a bit of chatter from the Deus using GM Power on 18 Khz. Went back for a further hour this afternoon by which time the grass had dried out in the sun and the chatter had disappeared completely. Any advice on this much appreciated so thanks in advance!

The field in question is relatively productive having given up over 100 coins so far including 6 silver sixpences, a Wm IV four pence, threepence and shilling, a forged 1711 sixpence and a Roman fibula.
Am hoping there are still some nice finds in the other half of the field!

Thanks again!
Malkins.

I don't have a Deus but I have a GMP. I find I have to ramp down the sensitivity when the ground is wet. I find this on my Tesoro Invincible too so it isn't just 18khz settings that it affects.

I had some chatter for the first time last Sunday and then I realized somebody else was using a Deus close by and he was also using the same frequency. When he moved away the chatter disappeared.
I was using Gary's Hot at 4 KHz.

Common problem with all detectors its to do with the way the coil is shielded. The only thing you can do is not to run the detector with slightly different settings.

On my Classic IDX I get the same problem. However if I change the ground balance from neutral to more positive the detector will work fine over wet grass (Deus would have to be manual ground balance not auto) . Same if I lower the sensitivity .

Unfortunately a common hardware fault of a faulty coil shield gives the same symptoms but this is unlikely.
