Hi Frippy,
There are still lots of GMP users out there, but it's true a lot have purchased a Deus I guess. Bought myself one just last week.

I'm not so sure how well a Deus would replicate a GMAXX / GMAXX2. Notice that the GMAXX program on the Deus runs at 8KHz, not 4KHz. It seems many people think that the Deus is optimised for 12 & 18 kHz, and the 4KHz mode is a bit weak.
The original gmaxx is still a very sort after machine, and folks who own them dont tend to sell them very often or folks who have sold them have regretted it later.
Almost all the original owner who sold these machines went over to the much more popular Gold Max power detector which possibly became to most popular detector in the UK about 5 years back prior to the Deus taking over the crown.
Please dont take this personally as its not meant to be,but i am still very puzzled as why you have chosen this specific model/brand of detector when as far as i can make out you still have not addressed the problem of how you plan on detecting with your disabilities of being mainly wheel chair bound and also major health issues.I of course may be missing the point or dont have all the facts, but i am only taking observations from your previous posts about the health problems that you currently have.
What ever option you choose,i wish you all the very best in choosing this or another detector and also your health issues are resolved.

hi, I have just come onto this site & I can say that this is longest I have kept a detector, just coming up to 4 years for the G-MAXX2, before that I had the XP ADX 250, the main reason for going onto XP, was a weight issue, owning a XP machine has made it possible to carry on detecting all day.
the G-MAXX2 as I have been led to believe is better for pasture running at 4.6 kHz, very rarely do I go onto arable land.
only thing I had wondered has anyone tried the G- MAXX2 on the beach or any other XP machine for that matter.

Hello 'frippy' I think the simple answer to your question, is that many users moved-on to the Goldmaxx Power or the Deus. I know both to be excellent detectors although I have stayed with the Goldmaxx Power (in chest mount format) which reduces the weight to very near that of the Deus and also avoids the issue of 'snagging' the headphone cable as it's only 30 cm long (coiled).

I use a GMP and it can still run with the best on land, for beach use forget it! It is hyper sensitive to foil and ringpull fragments and will drive most users nuts in a very short time, in my view a machine with an ID meter is a must on the beach, the Deus is reputedly a reasonable machine for beach use although I've not tried one so can't give a definitive opinion.james r wrote:hi, I have just come onto this site & I can say that this is longest I have kept a detector, just coming up to 4 years for the G-MAXX2, before that I had the XP ADX 250, the main reason for going onto XP, was a weight issue, owning a XP machine has made it possible to carry on detecting all day.
