6 inch minelab coil

Just ordered one. To have a go in the stubble. Hopefully be able to get it right in it. Any advise please. Cheers. Junior.

Its a great coil for stubble & trashy areas. Runs well on your normal programmes and is nice & sensitive & deceptively deep.

I always use this coil on stubble and it's fantastic....just make sure you recheck the blips as you might miss something

Superb coil! Had the joey 10x5 and the little 6 incher felt/performed to me better. A note just watch out for your your machine rolling onto its side when laying down as it wont be supported like a 11 inch for example when placing the ctx on the deck

Been out 1 time with it so far. On my mates permission. We used to get a hammie generally between us every visit but it's seemed to all of dried up now. So wernt expecting anything great. Usually the farmer cuts the barley and leaves the stubble long. But this year it surprisingly short in most of the 2 fields we went on. His combine is 40 yrs old !! So my idea of o it will get lower sort of worked on the low stubble. Ummmm. It did get inbetween the stubble easier than the 11 would of and the signals i did get going through the stubble I then checked going skimming the stubble and all but 2 I would of got. 1 being a primer out of a shotgun cap. So it gets small stuff. Depth wise woz good so it's happy day s. I'll keep it on the machine now for a while and see what happens

2nd outing on stubble. Used on c/s rally. 11" in morning. Wished I'd used 6" in morning as the stubble woz long..Changed to 6" in afternoon. 60m later. A 12.40 on 3030. Ummm. Tried it above stubble and no signal, ground level signal. Dug out a rather nice hen 8 1/2 groat. Happy days. Would I've got it with the 11" who knows. But so far pleased with it. Running it at 28 sensitivity with no real issues. . . Been able to use on the beach right up to sea wall with no real probs. Getting rid of the pi and using the 3030 on the beach now.

Me again. 3rd time out now CS dig at Bedfordshire near Santa pod. 6" again. Running it on tadpoles and just the 2 bottom lines. On the 2 bottom lines with ferrous- coin. Sen 24. Seawater on. Target trace on. Rec fast off. Rec deep on. Vol gain 30 I woz getting a lot of signals that were coming in on the 12-30/40. Digging them and they were square nails. Changed to tadpoles and the same woz happening. In the end dig 20 nails. 2 button. 1 s/g primer. 1 bit of lead and 2 flakes of metal. Am I going wrong somewhere or does the 6" like a bit of iron. Dues owners were complaining about the iron tool. Any ideas would b good

I had the same issue last Sunday when I was testing out my new Ctx06...
Most the time I now I search with an open screen, although my programs do have a tadpole kinda pattern I stay on the 2nd mode with no discrimination.. I just like the cleaner signal with no nulling..
So anyway I was out and come across a target, it was showing iron in the bottom right, but also had a sweet high tone and was middle right of the screen. The high tone was coming through there was no grunt, but there was still a red diamond in the bottom right..
So that was it, I'm digging that it sounds great... Well I was quite disappointed when out come a massive (about 2.5" iron) tube... What on earth is going on... I checked the hole, nothing else there..
I moved on..
And a time later I had the same again..
Iron showing bottom right(no tone), but the sweet tone, and showing mid screen..
This time it was a another ring type object but the size of a small sword pummel(its not though) bloody iron again..
It happened another time but I couldn't even locate the target.. I also had a few more come up like that, but didn't even attempt to dig them, as I was limited on time.
I posted on a few forums what would cause a sweet signal to come through along side iron along with pictures of the finds.
It was put down to using ferrous coin (my first time using this target separation) .. Minelab Mal advised. And another user said the ring type object causes a halo effect which tells the ctx otherwise from it being iron..
I may just stick to high/low trash...
But thought I'd try it, I'll only use the ground coin on highly mineralised ground, which I havnt come across yet..

Spoke to a couple of ctx users I become friendly with and see on a few local rallys and they said "O " when I said I woz on ferrous coin. They used high trash. So maybe I'll try high trash. Thanks.

Using no discrimination will do exactly as you described. You have programmed the machine to tell you about every signal and it is doing so. A single line of discrimination along the bottom should sort most of them out although you will still dig the occasional bit of iron with a hole in it. If I dig about 10% iron on my sites I know that my CTX is set about right. Of course I could completely get rid of iron if I wanted to but I try not to leave too many good targets in the ground for other people to find.

Indeed. High Trash is what I have used most of the time. sometimes low trash. It was this once I decided to use the ferrous coin. funny really, but like I said, after 2,3 targets like that, I didn't did any more.. and I didn't seem to find anything deeper than 8 inches. It could of been that there was nothing there that was deeper, it just struck me that's all. I always come across things at 12-18inches deep.. Thanks for your reply - any info is good info
in the past when I have used no discrimination, I have only dug 1 or 2 bits of iron that had a high chirp.. but I have been using high trash for target separation.. I find to my preference the indication is clearer for me. no nulling means it doesn't cover a good target? or so I understand. the iron sounds dep and clear - but when a good target sounds high as set whether im using my combined or 50 conductive.
I love this machine and have learnt quick I believe, since I got it 26th October..
So many people say how difficult it is, how slow, how heavy, long painful learning curve - and I disagree with it all... I feel very comfortable with it, I just need some productive grounds to go on now..
My permission is heavily hunted, and has been for years apparently. But its somewhere to go, to practise - and hopefully to prove people wrong, that nowhere is hunted out..

I've been watching Aussie gold hunters recently ... and to a kangaroo, they all use coils the size of dustbin lids and miraculously pull out bits less than a gram!!
