Yes, suits me. Good pub. They don't do Guinness but they have a stout you'd swear was the real thing.

So, Hudson's Ale House two weeks from today, that's Monday the 13th. Let me know if you can make it. I'll be driving from Cambridge so can help out if anyone needs a lift.

Looking forward to it W/Lad: you may want to rethink your means of identifying yourself though... a man sitting in the pub with a vibrating carrot could be misinterpreted

Nah, it's fine. Cambridge is very broad-minded.
I'll be there!
Did anyone mention a time? 8pm?

Re: Anyone want to help start a club in Cambridge?
I have signed for land in Cambridgeshire and am going to be organising digs for 50 people at a time. I have created a Facebook page and will be posting details on there soon. I am a member of a club but never have time or energy to attend meetings and think most people just want to dig! I have secured clean virgin land so watch this space for more info!

Re: Anyone want to help start a club in Cambridge?
Rather annoyingly I'm not now going to get to the meet tonight. Next time, but best of luck with the turnout today.

Re: Anyone want to help start a club in Cambridge?
Great evening, six people this time, Superred and cammman joined the four of us who came last time. Several people brought along their recent finds and there was much rolling conversation. Really nice people and a good laugh. We'll be doing it again on a regular basis. Were not going to make it too formal until such time as it becomes necessary but it would be nice to think we could all get out on a dig together at some point.

Hi Wessexlad, i would be extremely keen to assist you in starting up a club in the cambridge area. im only 20 minutes down the road from cambridge and would love to get involved in starting it up. if you want my help then my number is 07710282325Wessexlad wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2018 11:39 amIt's been mentioned before that there are quite a few members in the Cambridge area but no clubs especially nearby. Seems like a no-brainer to have a go at forming a club, even if it's an informal evening in a pub so that we can compare notes and swap ideas. Who knows where it might lead?
many thanks

We're already up and running. The general concensus was that we don't make a formal 'club' until the numbers or needs demand it. We're keeping it very informal, just meeting every month for a drink and a chat about our finds. We're yet to settle on a regular venue, as we're still exploring suitable pubs, but we've decided to meet on the second Monday of every month, so pencil us in!
Hope to see you there!

Next meeting is on Monday 10th September from 8pm onwards, and it will again be at Hunter's Ale House in Trumpington. We had a good turnout last time and a good laugh. All welcome.

Re: Anyone want to help start a club in Cambridge?
Thanks for that, much appreciated. I'm sure there are clubs near you, I know liamnolan has started one in Lincs somewhere, no idea if it's anywhere near to you but worth having a look. We had six people at our last meet and the promise of a few more maybe for the next one, so I'm hopeful we can get a club off the ground at some point.
Best of luck!

Re: Anyone want to help start a club in Cambridge?
Hi all,
Sorry to hijack this thread but I'm looking for some advice from people in Cambridge. My wife lost a ring that her mother had given her, and we think it's on our allotment. Does anyone know a good place to rent a metal detector, or any company that comes out to look for lost things like this? Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks!
Jack
