Thx.. I am realy suprised how small and thin Objekts are i found With the q40.
I found Little tiny Buttons smaller than one Euro Cent also the Silver Coin is a Little bit smaller.
The most old german Coins are not so big Like in the uk or USA. Tomorow iam upload a Foto to compare the cize of our Coins here...

Iam walk allways With the jewelery Mode disc at 20-30 change this often.. On the todays field the where Not so Much iron trash and i could go With disc 20.... Sens most time at 85 sometimes at 90 btw i Like quite Maschines ..allways 6 Tones... I Like this.. Also i think that the q40 With 6 Tones can Tell you better what Objekt are in ground in my opinion. I can hear Now a shootgun shell the ID lays bettwen 80 and 83 the Sound is clear but a Little bit jumpy from the tone.. The gb lays Much time around 60... And iam going With the big coil the smaller one i have but Not testet yet.
Have tryed the Coin Mode but i think It goes not so deep like jewelery... Testet this in air With my Silver Ring beach 26cm jewelery 23cm and coin 18 or 19...but beach dont work for me at fields... To Much unstable... Btw.. The air test i use Sens at beach Mode 60 and jewelery and Coins 85...to compare how strong the beach Mode is... All Metal and the custom Programm 1 and 2 lays bettwen beach and jewelery....

That's fascinating Mario, I find Jewellery mode works well for me but maybe I have the sensitivity too high? Generally around 95 at the moment, I will lower it to 80-85 and try it on Friday, Thanks for sharing the information that you've worked so hard to get.

Very good of you ::g ::g

From what I am reading on the forums, the Q40 seams to function best on jewelry mode and number six audio settings. When I hoovered up forty plus coins from one of my equine paddocks I was using coin mode and setting three on the audio. I didn't find many coins that were deeper than four inches under the turf

I'm due a replay this coming Sunday, so will try my Q40 on Jewelry and number six audio. I did run it in jewelry and number three audio on Sunday (in an alpaca paddock) but I'm guessing that there were no coins to be had. I came away with zilch!

Thx for all your comments ::g
i think how deep your mashine will go lays on many facts
like ground mineralisation, Emi and what ground you have..
I have sandy fluffy ground and think in this the q40 goes deeper than in hard
loamy humus soil..

and here are the comparison with german old coins and modern english
..the silver coins are old finds exept the 1/48 Thaler.
The tiny little mini button and the mini bullet are also finds with the q40 at about 10 cm.

i like the mashine sure some mashine is better but also some mashine are worser than the q40..
In my opinion the q40 is easy to learn and hard to master. overall for the prize the best choise.
Also i think that every user must find the settings there are the best for the personal like.. like tones etc.

greetings to all and every time good finds ::g

Hi Chris, just got Q40 and wanted to ask what you mean by audio one two three etc? Aren't these just tone preferences? Do they effect search performance? Cheers steve

Steve,

Norman has hit the nail on the head; I 'was' referring to tones. Depending upon one's hearing, it may be possible to hear weaker signals in one particular tone, or an other. Or one may find that one tone is just more pleasing to your ears; I hate the all metals tone. ::g
