Absolutely true - some days you're on fire and other days you wonder why you cant find anything. Nonetheless, it sounds like you've a great permission.

Nice story, thanks for sharing. Any photos of your finds to go with the post I am sure many would like to see the silver dress hook and a couple of the Romans. :)

Hello!
Great finds. I've been using Dropbox for showing pictures. Might be worth a shot?

Hi Eds
Cropping and resizing are 2 different things, that might be the problem

I know its boring but the new mods have written a guide on all things photos, but it really does have some cracking and easy to follow info on getting the photos up

Days just happens like that. ::g Different coils often behave slightly differently and can throw up signals which another seems to ignore. They may also require tuning into the machine or slightly different settings to get the most out of them. My SEF on an Explorer II was a real asset and I had no complaints about it although I too preferred the stock coil for day to day detecting.

Imgur is a great free site for uploading photos, you can resize on there and other things such as crop, brighten etc. etc

Its a great hosting site, there is a simple box to choose the code you need for the image to appear on a forum site so no limit on the photos you choose to put up in a post on MDF. Since the monumental mess up with Photobucket I searched for an alternative and Imgur fits the bill for me

I am halfway through a guide for Imgur that may be useful

Regards Steve

All so true, a game of random chance, some months we do really well on the bonds and other months its zilch. However the rule is that the more hours you put in the greater your chances.
Very nice write-up ... many thanks.

There is also another reason why you can find items one day, but not a week later. it's a bit of a thought but think about it, (maybe it hasn't be lost yet) ::g

I'd love to get photos on here and I've tried. Struggling as they always seem too large even when cropped. I can't do it from laptop as I'm not great on these phones etc....
I can wholly recommend PIXresizer as a free-to-download-off-the-internet program of only about 3.5mb in size. It is basic but because of that - it's also very easy to use.

I crop my photos and then use PIXresizer to bring the cropped image down to exactly the right size for just dropping into my posts. There's a limit of four photos per post on this excellent website and usually that has been sufficient. Only on one or two occasions have I added a second post with an additional photos.

Lovely finds, well done. The Roman coin is Constantine the Great,RIC 82b, David Sear/ Seaby 3738.
The Bronze Age piece will be a blade from a spearhead rather than an arrowhead, the socket end is missing.

I think you was spoilt on your first outing, as I definitely wouldn't call six Roman coins and an Edward I Farthing a bad day!

Great work and I am sure there is a lot more to come from that field. ::g
