Gold ring

Post by Frank123 »

Hello
After a gap of over forty years I finally saw the glimpse of gold in the dirt, on one of my favourite permissions that has produced hammered and georgian coins
Naturally my first thought was some kind of can or bottle top but then realised it was the real thing
I’m guessing it’s a pretty mangled gold ring of some age, missing it’s stone, and probably a ladies or child?
Any thoughts welcomed
Many thanks 👍

The remains of a mangled finger ring & looks early.

Edit: Looks more ring-like this AM.

How would it sit on the finger with the pointy bit on the back? Unless there is another for a parallel I am not convinced its a finger ring. They are always flat backed.

I think the pointy bit on the underside is from one side of the ring being misshapen when it was damaged.

Lovely find Frank, despite the damage.
