Gold ring found in the sea - Old or just recent handmade

Post by robin »

Hello

I found this gold ring in the sea this morning.
Its gold 18k and very thin
I think its a recent drop.
Found with my Deus 2

A friend thinks its old, I am not sure could be just handmade.
Any ideas please.
I have attached some photos.

My guess would be perhaps a scarf ring or something along those lines. Seems wide for a finger ring.

It's a nice find I know that much. [81/]

Interesting ideas on both those.

I have founds rings of all shapes and sizes in past. Some of the biggest being earlobe rings.

My hands are normal medium size and it does not fit my thumb, index or middle finger.

As for the walking stick ferrule, that could be ?

When you say "in the sea" out diving or a beach find?.....

Looks old, can you get anything from the hallmark?

Can you please confirm the scale showing alongside the item in pic 5 and 6 as it's not shown and not altogether obvious? Thanks Eric

It's a nice find and I'm going with the decorative stick/parasol handle suggestions.
Some posh stick! [81/] Cheers Eric
