Before you start ensure you have somewhere to legally use a detector. That is probably the best tip and advice otherwise the journey will be a short one.

As some have discovered to their it's cost, it's unwise to make choices regarding a detector and ancillary equipment before you feel confident enough to make your own informed choice!
For gathering information on the hobby and it's associated activities, you will do no better than heading over to the blue panel on the left where all the essential and important information you need to be aware of is to be found
