2022 FORUM DIG 16th to 18th September Market Bosworth ROMAN VILLA on site

Post by liamnolan »

I have been contacted by one of our members who runs a club and says we can tag onto a 3 day event he is running in September. We have run two Forum Digs in Leicester and both very enjoyable and decent finds. On the last day as campers were taking down their tents, they discovered they had been kipping over a Saxon grave! So all sorts of brooches etc then came up [87/]

Dates in September 2022;
Thursday 15th - Campers arrival from 2.30pm.
Friday 16th, Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th - detecting.
Location - Near Market Bosworth.
Land - probably Cultivated/seeded.
Cost £15 per day
Headphones to be used at all times.
Start time - 9.15am for quick chat, then off hunting by 9.30am.
MDF Organisers for this event are myself (Liam) and Neil (Rank81) Great to have Neil involved as he can bring tons of experience and knowledge.
Beginners to detecting - We all had to start off somewhere and mostly without a clue as to what to do! On our MDF Digs we always allow an hour or so at the start of the day to run through the basics of detecting and answer any questions.
Camping & Caravans - Free (no ice or snow expected) From Thurs 2pm. Then a chance to test your machines .. [81/]
Fresh land each day and plenty of it. So no worries that coming on the Sunday and not having fresh ground.
To get included just post on here what days you intend to attend. Include your MDF username.
I will refresh the list as we go along. If for any reason you find out that you cannot attend, then please post and I will amend the list.
NCMD membership - No need for this event as its already covered with PL insurance.
ALL of the information will appear on this post and be added to, so no need to PM me.
I will be checking out some B&B accommodation in the area.
This event seems to tick all the boxes for us, plenty of good land, central location, free camping, a chance for us all to meet up and also meet the club members there. No toilet facilities this time round, so bear that in mind.
ONLY MDF FORUM MEMBERS.

I wish! Would love to meet regular members on here for a few days detecting which I’ve never done before. I’m sure I’d learn loads and enjoy the social event, no doubts we’d find a good local pub & have a right good crack on the night but it’s the worst month for me to have time off working in car sales & hols already booked in October away with the Mrs but if you do another one at a different time of the year I’m definitely there!!
You only go round the block once! So you might as well go round it with a smile on your face (2:)

No other side of the woods. They are deep ploughing the original top fields ready for the
September dig.
Same area and history. [81/]

I would have been delighted to attend the revised MDF dig in September but that weekend I'm attending a pre booked annual military reunion so unfortunately can't apply my name to the list [84/] Come hell or high water I'll be there for the next one!
I know it will be a huge success with excellent prospects of some good finds being made!
Here's wishing you lucky people a really enjoyable and successful event [81/]

Many thanks Malcolm. Did some research on this area and seems to have good potential 👍👍
