Dave8472's Harpic plus method (Before & After)

Post by Gozzy23 »

Hello Guys ::g Yesterday i found my first George III Cartwheel and it was in pretty bad condition with a lot of green incrustation! I didn't want to electrolysis it because i don't like the shininess that it leaves when finished and i always think they don't look old. I've seen Dave's before and after pictures and i like the method because it still keeps the nice patina on the coins. Soooo i thought i would take the gamble and try it...

Firstly I poured the harpic plus in a cup and dropped it in there for about 30 seconds. Then i took it out and scrubbed it with a toothbrush and washing up liquid. I then put it in boiling water to make sure the cleaning action had completely stopped... Lastly i dried it completely and then buffed it up with renaissance wax and i must say i am very pleased with the end result. :D :D

Goz.

A great result but as you did correctly for only 30 Seconds. I dont think I would leave it any longer than that as that stuff is pretty potent. ::g :)

John just make sure you scrub all the harpic off, or it will keep on working, and seal it with renaissance wax to keep the air out, all like what Goz has done ::g

It only cost £1 :D cheaper than cilit bang
