Looking for a buddy in North Wales or Cheshire local
I am getting to the point where I can possibly go out Metal Detecting after being disabled with two broken feet..
I have not been Metal Detecting before, but have acquired a Garrett AT Pro and am eager to get using it.
I live in North Wales, so am looking for areas/buddies that are not too far away

Hi George - Good to hear you’re almost back on your feet. I’m originally from Mancot, but now in Glasgow so I can’t help you with permissions I’m afraid. How close to the coast are you? I’ve heard the beaches can throw up some good stuff; bullets and the like.

Hello George L, Sorry to hear of your predicament, feet are certainly an essential if we are to be independent so it' good that you are able to consider metal detecting as a hobby
Whilst continuing to seek out a buddy in your area, are you able to consider the beaches near you?
The Welsh coast is not known for being accommodating on the wet sand but I'm sure that the AT Pro could be used without much issue on the upper reaches of dry sand (where they exist) and subject to a few (I'll call them 'tweeks') as I'm not that familiar with the AT Pro, Edit to add - it can be made perfectly usable on the wet sand too.
If you haven't already done so, you may like to check- out Garrett AT Pro forum for user's tips and experiences of the model. The AT Pro Forum
Good Luck

Regarding the AT pro and beaches as SS47 said the Welsh coast can be a bit demanding. However, The Ferret (unfortunately no longer on here) used the AT pro to great effect on the North Somerset beaches, so with luck and "tweeks" you could be OK.

You couldn't have been any closer if you tried.. I am in Connah's Quay.. I will try the beaches at Flint and Prestatyn.. Thanks for the thoughts there; the AT Pro is the waterproof detector and is also rated for salt water..
Just to add: I did actually check the forums you have suggested ( The AT Pro Forum ) for peoples views on the model prior to purchasing my detector.. I also perused the Garrett website for specifications

You're welcome. I might join them myself if the Wirral club is full. I lived very close to Mold for many years but never bothered joining them, but I can see the benefit of club membership now.
Just need to get that new detector first !

Well the membership of the Historical Search Society (moldhistoricalsearchsociety.co.uk/index.html) was only £20 for the year and that included a membership of the NCMD for the year which also encompassed Liability Insurance..
Regarding the detector, I have no experience but, I was reading about this one
Nokta Makro Simplex Waterproof Metal Detector with 11 DD Coil
and not only the price, but the reviews from different sources around the net where all positive and impressive
It might even be worthwhile asking in the MDF Shop if they are planing to stock/sell the model
