Hi all,
I'm based in Plymouth and have been detecting for a year or so. I'd love to meet up with other local detectorists and maybe go out on some digs ? I've sent a thousand (feels like it) letters out and got no reply as of yet. Maybe a WhatsApp group for local detecting, if anyone is heading out and wants some company could pop it on a group chat and go from there ? Just a thought. I'm happy to travel to meet up for a dig. I'm part of a group (southern searchers) but don't manage many digs due to work or family commitments but really want to do more detecting on my days off.
Nice to sort of meet you all.
Mark.

Join DCDD UK Facebook group. Lots of digs in, you guessed it, Devon, Cornwall and Dorset. They had one in Plymouth last couple of weeks.

Cheers,
H.

I'm in Plymouth, have had a few permissions but most things around me are owned by large estates or large wealthy families who won't let you in there land so I'm stuck mostly to beaches and club digs once a month. I'm happy to buddy up or have like a mini rally in Teignmouth on someone's huge un detected permission lol. I'd like to get together and see what we could dig up.

Hi all, Hope everyone is good, just wondered if anyone was out detecting soon. Still firing emails and letters out in the hope for a good permission but still nothing back. If anyone has any permissions and fancies letting me join them please feel free to message

Hi I'm a long in the tooth detectorist and I would advise always approach anyone you hope to get permission from in person, in all the years I've been a detectorist I have never asked if I can detect via email or letter, people say getting permissions is getting much harder these days, but my son and myself have acquired another four in the last year, well actually two of them acquired us!
This is the advantage of talking to owners of land in person, they often also have friends with land, don't be scared [40/] of meeting people face to face as they are unlikely to eat you alive or set a pack of Hell hounds after you and if you take time to let them know you, you are much more likely to be met with a 'yes' when you ask.
