I think with the Deus you have to download a different language-specific version of the software - there are only three options (it would seem) English, Spanish and French:

Do you have the correct USB cable and a reasonably modern computer (some very old USB ports don't work, and some USB cables don't connect the data pins - only power)?

I downloaded the update in English and changing the language did not work

For Deus 1 the language cannot be changed by the user. Eventually your vendor has the possibility to apply a different language firmware depending on the required equipment.
