Help with ID please

Post by deb17322 »

Hello all, as a very enthusiastic beginner I’ve recently upgraded to a better detector and expanded to new search areas. I’ve enjoyed the identification process, using this forum and other repository’s of information, almost as much as the finding itself, but I have 2 items I’m struggling to identify in any detail.

Firstly I found this button, it has a smaller raised boss on one side with what looks like 2 partridges, and has Super Fine Quality and a crown stamp on the other side. Looked at lots of livery buttons with similar size and pattern, but can’t find anything quite like this. Can anyone provide any advice please on how to find more information?

The second item I’ve found is this round lead weight, weighs about 450g and is quite rough, but thought it might be a balance or a trade weight? Again would be great if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance - I love the site and the forum.
David

Hello and welcome to the Forum.
Your button is a Sporting one with a pair of Grouse. [81/]
Would say Victorian.
Lovely find.
