Anyone have experience using 'coil stubble plates'

Post by Rank81 »

Considering purchasing what generally seem to be referred to as coil 'stubble plates '. Basically the skid plate has the holes filled which is supposed to ease detecting through stubble, as it doesn't get caught inbetween etc. Various manufacturers. Most of my permissions are pasture, but I travel to about 3 'weekenders' in the year which are usually stubbleband I'm not at all used it lol.

Just wondering if anyone on here has used one and if they found it made any difference? Or if its little more than a gimmick?

Thanks in advance

Not much good on barely and wheat stubble, they just increase the drag and you surf along the top of the stubble losing more depth [84/]

Might help a bit on stiff stubble like oil seed rape but to be honest i don't even bother trying to detect that unless it has been drilled.

You have to remove them on plough or muddy conditions as they just clag up.
