New coil
Someone on a dig was telling me about a new coil that XP is likely to be releasing this year. After a quick google search that didn’t bring up much, only that it was mentioned on a podcast that it might have higher frequencies . I get that smaller coils are easier to swing in tighter spaces or in stubble but what’s the advantages of the High Frequency’s.

Almost certain they had mentioned bring out out a HF elliptical coil, which would basically be the same size as the Deus 1 elliptical coil, exceptionally good for trashy sites etc.
Regarding the HF part of your question that would be aimed at small gold jewellery and even nugget hunting as well,of course we dont as such have natural gold nuggets, but would work very well for gold jewellery on beaches due to the multi freq.

It is likely to be available within the next couple of months (as confirmed by XP's marketing manager/director to at least two youtubers) and is expected to be the Deus 2 compatible FMF version of this coil:
https://www.xpmetaldetectors.com/en/pro ... l-coil.php
Because XP uses a wireless link for their coils, each new coil design needs a separate FCC certification, this is not the case for the wired coils used by other manufacturers. This need for FCC certification adds cost and time delay to the product development process. I keep an eye on this page to see when the request for certification has gone in:
https://fcc.report/company/Xplorer
As said, the main advantages of this new coil are expected to be:
- The small elliptical form-factor is great for detecting in tight spots (tree roots, rocky ground, stubble etc. etc.).
- The higher frequencies (esp. when combined with FMF - simultaneous multi-frequency operation) should make the coil extremely sensitive to small, low-conductive targets like small gold.

Nothing visible here yet - they may already have FCC approval (which is needed before they can sell any) but the website hasn't been updated to show that:

I notice that Gary Blackwell, and his little crew of fellow XP'erts, have gone pretty quiet on the Youtube front lately - I wonder if that's because they've been testing and/or shooting footage with the new coil.
I think that a software update is almost certainly going to be made to allow the new coil to be used. I'm wondering if XP might be taking the opportunity to add different/new features to the software as well e.g. an improved XY screen ? I get a feeling we won't have to wait much longer!![ThumbsUp [81/]](./images/smilies/81_EmoticonsHDcom.png)

My dealer says may but we shall see.
There was mention of it in video on 1st april by XP chap.
Seems there might be a different charge connector ?
The estimate release date is end of this month, this is from a field tester.
