Thanks Tombs, Clint & Kevin E.
Yes Clint, the Etrac has not dug any coke for me on this permission! I didn't have too much of a problem with the Euro when i first started for digging coke. Foil does well on the Deus as well. But like others of you here say hammies can be in the foil readings.
I have seen a few of peaceheavens clips but not sure where this one is you mention Kevin. Will try and fnd it.
Cheers
Steven.

yeah but im not talking about the big or medium signals im talking about those tiny little tics and scratchy noises you only get on every other swing, you know the REALLY small signals that a lot of guys ignore. you cant set a tone for them mate some of them don't even show on the horse shoe thing![/quote]
Hi Tombs
sorry to reply sooo late but I just got in from work (12.05am)
when you set the Deus up in Expert Modes with 2 or more tones then there is one tone will sound all the good stuff which is the higher tone
and the other one which is the lower tone is for bad signals like iron
I have never tried 3 or more tones but I have found that two tones is ideal
and when I pass the coil over iron and like I previously said that it sounds like an express train going through a tunnel while sounding its horn
I wasn't only referring to large pieces of tractor iron or horse shoes but to the smallest iron nails will sound the same
and I think that the Expert Modes lives up to its name
well at least so far
the Expert Modes in my mind is pure brilliant

yeah expert does work very well, sorry if i sounded a bit harsh befor

Ok your all seem to be rating Expert Tone settings.
Can someone please point me in the right direction. I also do notice a fair few of them faint itchy signals where they do not register on the horseshoe display and will take earlier advice
Can someone give me instruction on what settings to use and how for this expert mode. I understand its gives a better split of definition of Iron from Good tones.
Also would using a High Reactivity be a good idea.
Cheers & thank you all so far (please keep is simples)

i feel that a full time deus user should be answering really but i can give a basic idea i wouldn't worry about changing the tones as yet,
i would start by using the gmp program set it to 18hz and put the discrimination down to 5.2 or there abouts
1. dont dig under 30.
2. reactivity = depth and signal length, the higher the reactivity the shorter the signal and you lose a lot of depth so keep it low if the ground is clear of iron, say 0/1
3. use 95 to 99 sensitivity if you can
i think thats a good place to start and should give good depth etc
if any pro deus users out there disagree please put me right lol

Excellent Tombs ! Thank you so much !!!
Can i ask why set the Descrim to 5.2 or about and not dig anything less than 30. Am i missunderstanding this; I see it as descrim at 30 so everything below 30 will be a low tone and a no dig on it.
Otherwords why have about 5.2 on descrim with the gap to 30. Either way I will hopefully weather permitting tomorrow afternoon do this and change the settings you suggest. I will have to lower the sensitivity down a bit to 94 max as there are pylons near on the field I am going over.
I don't go in line to line strictly, maybe i should but take zig zags across the field/s
Cheers

I am finding coke, {on my permission, anyway,....} consistently comes in at 25 or 26,... so I have 'notched out' 24-30. I dont THINK I will miss may 'goodies' at that, but, lord, there is sooo much coke in my fields,.... {I border the river Trent, and a short distance from a power station,... wonder if that is where it all came from??????? }
Cheers, Fred

Here's my Pasture program, simple to input, had good results on my worn out pastures, I've found nothing too exciting, but on my fields anything is a bonus...... try this and then switch to gmaxx, you should hear the difference.
Slip this on to basic 2, if you don't like it go back to default.
Disc 5.5
Sens 95
Freq 11.8
Iron Vol 2
React 02
Audio 05
Notch 00
2 tone...... for those not sure how to do this, Set Disc... Press Expert, click 2 tone. no need to alter the tone settings
Enjoy........

And don't forget Coke comes in different ID's on different programs and settings, thats why its such a pain with the Deus........ Maybe V3 when it arrives later in the year may deal with the coke problem.......

Can I ask, you say try this and then switch to Gmaxx. Confused a little by what you mean. Are you saying try the settings you post then after a while change to Gmaxx to see the difference.
What difference do you think I should notice please so I know what to look for.
Cheers

I only managed 10mins out detecting before really heavy rain came in from nowhere but I did notice the Horseshoe on the left of the Deus display had changed to that otherone. Is this suppose to happen ?
Cheers

Will report back with my finds and thoughts later tonight. One thing as mentioned earlier the Hoseshoe on the display has changed to that other graphic. Is this correct of have I touched something I shouldn't

Hello Kmarsh
I went out for just over an hour this afternoon though ground was very wet sqelchy like. I used your settings which i put into the Basic 2 programme.
I dug 2 bits of foil 40's, a couple of bits of big iron 80's, tiny button but a little worse for wear jumping from low single figures to 60's into 90's this puzzled me, then a George V 1936 Half Penny then just next to it about 6" after re checking the area a bit of iron so that was good the Coin came in over the iron they way i see it.
Tomorrow and Sat i have most of the day and can really concentrate on this. As you said earlier change to GMaxx for comparison which i will do.
Cheers Kmarsh
Thank You
Steven.
