Re the ring, well found and pleased for you, however sad that the owner has lost such a beautiful item that probably broke her heart, looks modern enough to have the owner still alive. I suppose it would be almost impossible to reunite with the owner but it would be good to just ask the police if anyone had reported the ring missing?
Good luck, Liam
Good idea Liam, just think of the pleasure of reuniting that ring with its owner !, and if it's not claimed then he'd get it back. After all, it will spend less time with the police than it would with the FLO if it were a relic !.

I would maybe just ask the police if what seems to be an engagement ring has been reported lost. If not then leave your contact information for anyone to get in touch. I would get the ring valued and expect that to be taken into account for any reward for returning it. A jeweller may also be able to identify the maker? It would make a very good Local News article and this could bring in some local offers of land if the article was written in the right way
Not trying to be holistic by the way, just my own thoughts, I know if my wife lost her rings it would be a very dark day, Liam

cracking find...but be careful with the enthusiatic cheers and victory jig on the beach. People may come over, ask to see...and if you are alone...well, you know.
I live in Portsmouth, same questions all the time that you always answer no.
1. found any treasure mate - No
2. anything valuable mate - No
3. let's have a look what you have found then fella - nothing yet, just got here.
I am sure some of the other 'beach searchers', eg Tomo, have a secret compartment somewhere on their clothing for the more interesting finds..I sure do.

One thing. I do know, is I must change my hiding spot cos I always end up with sand in my underpants after a good find
Cautious but sensible approach Fabio and cracking find zxadi
A colleague from work was out on site las week and was mugged for his coat, camera and wallet. he was hospitalized with injuries to his ribs, broken fingers (happened as he protected his face from the kicks) and glass in his eyes from his broken glasses being kicked into his eyes)
This was in daylight in a city street, never mind a deserted beach
I like the 'just got here' answer, I'll remember that one
I was digging a signal on a beach once and looked up to find a dogwalking couple and a teeen age lad all staring down at me. As i paused to take in all the interest, the woman said "keep digging then" I'm not sure what my reaction to finding a 22ct ring would have been (the target was in fact a corroded 2p so no security worries that time at least)
Thank you all . i will be going to jewelers 2morro to get a value <:-P . i am also going to the police station to report the find ,but as its away from the area that i found it in i dobt anyone reported it, but ya never know .
