hi all,
i'm thinking of getting a deus lite.i prefer a tone only machine as i found when i have had metered they usually are fooled and i listen to the sounds only.
i want something to complement the gmp which is fantastic but gets me digging a lot of foil as some places i go are littered with it .
so i was thinking of a deus lite as it's got four different frequencies, the gmp is fantastic on iron infested sites but want to try the lower frequencies to try to get deeper on clean pasture.
also want the ability to notch or discriminate out foil when it's a problem. on these sites i don't need to worry about the "notch out foil , notch out hammies issue"
so can the programs be tweaked on the presets? and how easy or difficult is a deus to use?
i also like the idea of being able to use on beaches aswell.
i know many will say get the full deus but not fussed at the moment as i prefer tones but it's good to have the option to upgrade in the future.
any thoughts or experiences most welcome and appreciated.
cheers john

Wait a few weeks as a pick and mix is coming up which means the new headsets with the larger screen and buttons will be available.
Much better for those loading up programme choices

Hi Johno
I want to do exactly the same as you and go for a DEUS lite and then once I've got it I can then save up for the control box later. My friend has the full DEUS so if I get a DEUS lite then my friend could transfer some of his settings over to my backphones.
Some of the resons why I want a DEUS is that its completely wireless, I currently have the GMP and there has been times when out on a club dig we have had to climb over a few fences and its been a nuisance if I have the gmp hip mounted. It then meant having to remove it and then put it back on after climbing over the fence, lots of messy around with cables etc. They are as light as a feather and waterproof. Like you say there is different frequencies and settings which will make it an excellent machine on any type of ground.
I have loved my GMP which is on the Auction listings, and cant fault it.
As far as I know you can tweak the settings on the DEUS lite but you dont have the Advance settings. I am not bothered about having the display in front of me. I prefer to go by the sound too and use my intuition when to dig the signal or not. Just like on the GMP its a multi tone detector and since owning it, have got used to the tones. Most of the time I can predict if the signal is a coin or not by the sound of the high tone. Sometimes it has fooled me and it turned out to be a can or foil like you say.
If I can sell my GMP then I will be going for the DEUS lite

Good Morning,
I have the Deus Lite and think its a brilliant machine, when I first got it I couldn't afford the full kit and thought I would buy the control box as and when I could afford it , I am not going to bother now-I would much sooner go by the sounds! judging from what I have read the numbers on the screen are pretty "naff" anyway
When you buy the lite you get the choice of nine programes and the choice of tweaking them in the following ways -- discrimination, sensitivity, ground, frequency, tone number, audio volume. So you can see that you still get a very versatil machine.
When the new [3] update comes out if I decide that I would like it I will send my headphones to Regtons to have it updated. So if like me you can't afford the full one get "on the lower rung of the ladder" with the Deus Lite
