Well done slippery, I've yet to find one with a stone - seeing your ring shortly after its discovery was a bonus. Have not been able to identify my button as yet, though I'm assuming its merchant navy. May post on here to see if anyone can identify it.

Have not been able to identify my button as yet
Hi G,
I had a quick look for your button..pretty sure it's a shipping line of some kind but there's LOTS of them! One that looked similar was C. T. Bowring & Co. Ltd ::g

Thanks for that slippery ::g , you could well be right as it certainly looks like one of their house flags and its closer than anything I've found so far. Haven't been able to find any images of their uniforms/ buttons yet, but will keep looking.

Looks like a find and a half to me! How do you do it repeatedly?!
Managed a quick 30mins on the way home last night and picked up 10 1/2 p plus a heart stopping hose clip that for a moment looked like a ring!
