Tall Man for Deus

Post by woodentop »

Does anyone know if XP Metal Detectors stock a tall man's stem for their Deus range of detectors ?
I was able to purchase one for my Whites detector and also my Garrett Euro Ace from Regtons

Being over 6ft tall most detectors are very short for me to swing

Hi

You could always mount the coil on a Whites DFX, MXT, shaft?

You'll need the handle and middle shaft. If you use the Whites lower shaft you have to drill out the coil lugs to fit the thicker Whites bolt. ( will void your warranty if under 2 years old ).
So the next best option is to use the XP lower shaft. ( not the Deus one, the standard XP shaft, GMP etc )
You may also opt for the Whites spring clip, as it's a double one and more secure. But you'll need to drill an extra spring clip hole in the XP shaft for it.

It's all down to cost really? However, i image the longer the Deus shaft is extended, the more likely it is to flex, in my opinion?

Whites parts can be bought direct from Whites UK. If you tell them what you intend to do, they will be very helpful and advise you.
I've heard the Whites shaft is very nicely balanced with the Deus coil, especially with the 13" coil, Much more robust too.

I hope this helps you a bit with your situation?

Regards

Hi mate, unless you are 6ft 10" or 11" then surely the standard shaft would be long enough :-O :-O
as I am 6ft 3" and I extend it not even half way on the measure at the side of the shaft :-O I extend it to just two and a half on the shaft scale and there is loads more shaft to extend :-O :-O ::g B-)

have you got a Deus yet or are you just thinking about getting one :-/ :-/ I really think there is loads of length on the shaft ::g ::g well there is on mine anyway =)) =)) =)) rl;

hope this helps ::g

To be fair, suppose its all down to preference. I am 6' and always have it extended to 5, cannot possibly see how you would get away with 2.5 without tripping over the coil constantly ?? :-/
If they did do a "tall man" stem, I'd snap one up immediately.

Update on this, it seems that the Deus is just right for me to use even though I am 6ft 7inch tall. Thanks for any comments added to this thread.

Well I have a Deus and I am all of 5ft 4 but I must have tall woman syndrome because I thought the shaft was not very long. I was going to post some more info but can't find the right words =))
Its better out of the ground and in your hand for the history or monetary value rather than left in the ground to rot doing nothing for anyone.

I am 6'2 and have the stem at the 4 mark and can use it fine with both stock and large coil. Try it out in a store at 4 and see how you get on.
