I use the elite, and is great on the wet, settings I use are notch and disc off sensitivity at 10 oclock, variable tone, and all metal mode but your friend may not want to use all metal mode, until he gets use to the tones, keep it low and slow, and dig everything to start with,it goes deep so be prepared to dig,but its worth it.HAPPY HUNTING. ::g

Very similar from what I know! Slippery and dirty paws both use gt and have guided me well with the elite which is the earlier model. Elite was a bit cheaper than the gt from the 2nd hand machines that I could find. Both take the same battery pack.

I have got to give it to the guys on here. There is to my surprise more skill involved than machine choice. Just search their posts and see the frequency of the bling! To see what the elite does in he hands of the novice read my thread day4andbeond.

"Six of one and half a dozen of the other".

Both very good being multi frequency. ;) Jerry.
