I am a very lucky guy, after 5 days in hospital for a major back op,im now recooperating at home, but whilst I was in hospital my loving wife decided to buy a static caravan on a site on the isle of Sheppey, just for me to relax whilst I get better, hopefully less than the 12 weeks the doc said, but then she rally pushed the boat out.I had parcel deliverd today and in side was a brand new shiny ctx3030[,and I didn't think she cared]wow I no she does now.good job I cant walk properly yet it will give me time to get my head around how to use this bit of kit.I will only be using it on the beach so not as much to learn? Im using the sov elite at the moment but I feel I need to get deeper as the older stuff I find is mostly at maximum depth of about 12" does any body no how much deeper the ctx can go I looked online but it doesn't really give you any thing on depths I no this varies on what size the target is but say a gold ring, coins etc any help would be gratefully received thanks in advance adam
sorry Adam cant help with the depth.... but i do wish you a speedy recovery i know what its like
to be laid up with bad back. hope you get back out there soon m8 and enjoy your new detector.

Thanks slippery where I live the beaches have a fair bit of iron on,and I am definately losing out on stuff amongst it.My sovereign is good but the recovery speed is poor,so I cant wait to hit some spots that are full of iron theres some good finds to be had there.
Hope you get well soon and it certainly is a nice present to receive.
In your opening post you are asking a vague question about how deep will the new detector go but you are also answering it yourself really,no one can give a true indication either in adverts or tests as in theory so many variables into the equation like size, what the item is made out of.
I guess its fair to say that a machine costing a 4 figure sum is going to be possibly deeper than one cost a few hundred by how much no one can answe that on i am afraid, the added bonus that the new machine has over the Sovereign is of course its totally waterproof but the down side is you cannot hip mount a CTX but you can the Sovereign and by doing this you could of added the larger 15in WOT coil and that is one hell of a Beach combination.
By using the larger 17inch coil on the CTX then you will gain extra depth once again how much well how long is a piece of string,it could be the way forward if you want to go deeper but deeper holes dont dig themselves.I would have said stay with the stock coil as that should give you good depth as well as being very sensitive to small jewellery.
