advice needed for beach detecting please

Hi folk, I have gone through quite a few detectors over the past couple of years until I settled on the gmp. But when I bought it I was told it would be useless on the beach. I took this as gospel and bought the c scope pi for the beach, now I read on here that it is quite a capable detector on the beach if set up right here is the big question, which is better for the beach,,, cs4 with its depth or gmp with its discrimination. I am off next week so I might take both and try to see if the gmp has any sort of depth, my main worry useing it on the beach is I am not sure what sort of depth the beach lads are finding the goodies at. I know the pi hits at least a foot down but I hate digging a mine shaft for a lump of rusty iron

The CS4PI is a superb detector on wet sand; it's just a shame that it has no discrimination. Why not setup a test bed on wet sand and run each detector over it?

Hi jimbotrucker your pi will always be deeper your right about discrimination but with use you will know what not to dig i Very rarely dig any iron go for the faint crisp signals on loud signals use the coil to gauge size of object and you will soon discover iron gives its own distinctive trace signal
