Been searching for about 30mins now on google about metal detecting in UAE or more specifically Dubai.
I have a two day stop over there on the way to AUS and would LOVE to detect the beaches there. Would literally be a gold reserve but im very nervous knowing that certain thing they take very seriously and really don't want to be banged up or have my detector taken off me.
All ive been able to find on google is just one post asking the same question as me but he couldn't get an answer. I did find that there is a shop in Dubai selling detectors but also read that nobody there does it.
Anyone know if its legit or not?
Thanks,
Metal detecting Dubai?
Probably stating the obvious mate , I would email their police dept or government depts . Its the last place on earth that you would want to be doing anything illegal. You also have the problem if you find anything , you probably know about theft laws ... Could end up coming back with 4 fingers just for detecting

As our information metal detecting in Dubai is not prohibited, but because its not popular here most of people have no idea about metal detecting so on public beaches and public areas there will be some misunderstanding and maybe a crowd watching you or gather all around you wondering what is metal detector, in that case because of environment security police or the beach security can stop you,
Found this info hope it is of some use to you

On that account it would come down to the cop who stopped you, either frendly or not.
Not really a risk I want to take I think. Shame thou, would have loved to detect the virgin, gold ridden beaches of the 7 star resorts!

You may also find on the beaches in Dubai because of the calibre of visitors they get there for holidays etc the beaches will probably be cleaned to a very high standard more or less on a daily basis, therefore a very large percentage of the goodies would have previously been discovered.

My great concern is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with your failure.

I would tread very carefully even if you do have permission from local police. its a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing in Dubai.
Perhaps you could just use this trip as a fact finding tour for next time.
