I'm tempted....I'm tempted....

Post by janner53 »

I'm sat here 'imming and 'amming about trying my luck at a local beach today. High tide was at 7:43 this morning and low tide is at 14:02 this afternoon. The weather is nice and settled at the mo, not raining and hardly any wind, but heavy rain is forecast for later.
I was thinking of the heavy storms we just had and I've got this thought in my head will the beach be cleared of a lot of sand, and coins and rings are just laying there ready to be picked up by the bucket full. Then a niggling thought says it may be piled in worse than the last time where i found nothing and it will pelt down and I'd get soaking wet for nothing again.

Now a thought just said "what are you like", "you a man or a mouse, get out there and find out.".
So when I finish this bit of cheese I'm nibbling I may try it.

Well I went and glad i did. The rain held off, just an odd light shower but sunny spells in between. Had an enjoyable few hours and sand had been stripped off the beach as I hoped. I kept near the top of the beach as this was where I was finding the most coins. Found 30 coins, a mixture of pre-decimal and decimal (just under £3.) The pre-decimal was mostly pennies and half pennies , a couple I can't make out. But my best find was a 1938 sixopence.

An enjoyable few hours. I met three other detectorists there and pointed them in the direction of this forum. So if any of you are looking in was a pleasure to meet you.

I thought it performed very well Mole. It took a bit of playing around with at first but managed to quieten it at these settings....

Sensitivity 10
Ground Balance 5
Iron Disc FS
Iron Off
Signal Audio 2
Mode 3.

I found if I moved the Iron Disc from FS, I couldn't work with the Sensitivity at maximum, and I always like the Sensitivity as high as I can get it. Plus with the Iron switched off it was only picking up non ferrous metals, mind you, the odd shaped or big iron still got through here and there, but wasn't a problem.
