old mudlarks still use a compass 77b where theyre still working but the machine is 35 years old now and finding one that works must be a challenge .
the components are likely to change value causing the machine to cease working as it should

Looks like that little section must have been churned or stripped because that a heck of hot streak you're on.

I'll hopefully be back down there next week. There are some nice, low lunchtime tides according to the tide table. Maybe see you down there.

Not at the mo, I don't have the PLO permit. I'm not sure I want to as there is so much iron I think it would drive you mad! I havn't completely ruled it out though as some of the guys who do find some real cool stuff ::g

I used to search the foreshore with a compass 77B did it for a few years and found lots of good finds never had a disc on that one either was all metal BFO. 98; (:| ::g

with you, but I had a compass 77b and they were I.B.(induction balance) not BFO (beat frequency oscillation).I used mine on foreshores too with good results.It did ignore small iron but picked up everything else.Built like a tank and very sensitive to small Roman coins etc.
