Now from what I've read from forums many people ignore signals that fall below 30 on the target I.D meter and to be fair with good reason as it's usually iron. Now hot rocks are the bane of my life as they can bounce from 0 up to the 90's. So I started ignoring anything below 30 and the bouncing signals...
Big Mistake

Last Wednesday my detector buddy found a lady's 22 carat gold ring with his Teknetics T2 and left it in the hole. He then replaced the sod and I went over it with my Deus the signal was bouncing between 08 and about 72. Several factors come into this ( I believe)
The ground was quite mineralized
The target was deep
The target was small
The target's conductivity is not high
Here's the good news
If I had dug the target on signal alone (sound), I would have got it, but to my shame I have passed these targets in the past, thinking they were hot rocks. My advice is take the Target I.D. with a pinch of salt. Dig the good sounding targets whatever the numbers tell you. This is what I've been doing since and I've had some good, small targets I definitely would have missed before. I know a lot of you will know about this already but I wanted to share my story.
Happy hunting everyone. Please comment and feel free to share any advice.
