my mate runs with a 9 inch coil and he certainly has a lot more finds in his pouch at the end of a session and smaller items ,it just seems to miss things in trashier areas and doesnt pick out the smaller items . now when i use the etrac when i had one now the CTX this doesn;t happen .i am not convinced with 11 inch coil .

hi kb i use a 9 inch and find it easier to get in between the stubble and especially maize stubble but thats only my opinion although you dont cover so much ground but on the plus side theres another day out there then

My wife says that she finds signals more clear with 9''. And it's a lot better balanced with 9'' I can tell you that! It's feels a lot lighter. Don't feel weight at all. You can try mine 9'' when we meet.

V2 and then went for V3 and decided V2 was better, went for the 11ins coil but decided the standard 9 ins was better ... some scientific breakthroughs are lost on me .. the 9 ins certainly does the job and gets in among the iron no probs at all. I suppose it depends on what you get used to and I am sure Gary will enlighten us all next Sunday, Liam ::g

Doubt its the coil that's making the difference. Next time your mate gets an iffy signal you could try with your machine and see if its the same worse or better. Also could do the other way you get an iffy signal and see if your mates pulls it up easily. Have seen two people set up their machines the same with the same size coil fitted one would get an iffy signal the other would not see it at all. There is a slight difference in both machines an coils due to manufacturing tolerances. Is always good to confirm how well your machine is preforming

The 11" coil gives more depth by about 2".

I used the 10" in today's stubble but switched tp the 11"in the pasture area. ;) Jerry.

I have both sizes and I had intended to use the 11" when the fields where nice and flat , but my 9" coil went wrong and I had to swap over whilst it was repaired .... Personally I don't see much difference at all ::g

Just ask Garry on his detecting forum where you can get the very best info from his videos.

He is possibly the best UK master with the Deus. ;) Jerry.

I cant say ive noticed any real difference in depth between the two but I do think the 11" is less sensitive, it dosent always show but I think it notices when the ground is a bit rough or unsettled :-/

hi Phil i am certain that you are right that the 11 inch is certainly not as sensitive on smaller targets ,but i think you gain a slightly better depth on larger targets .i would love to swap my 11 inch coil for a 9 inch one ,

Hi i recently made this post ona thread with a similar title but will repat my comment here as is relevant to the points bring made.
I have been using the 9" coil for my last few outing, initialy because I was searching various stubble sites and found it easier swinging. Ive continued using it on my usual seeded site and am starting to form the opinion that it is better than the 11" at finding non ferous targets. Some areas of my sites i have really methodicaly battered with the 11" coil near to where i found gold and was pretty confident using various programs that I've removed all good targets. Today I go back with the 9" using the same program dig a old penny and Tombac buton within 6 feet of where i found the gold noble. I find it alittle disconcerting to be finding targets like that in an area i have really spent some time searching. Apart from this i reckon i am recovering more decent targets using this smaller coil. Now the big question is. Is the small coil better at finding targets within its depth range than the 11"? Or is it another factor influencing my success with it?
I still think as of today that the 9inch coil finds more targets.
Cheers andy

I have the 11' coil and hit tiny stuff in iron infested land, never had the 9' so can,t compare. I am waiting on the new coil due out next year if the reviews are good will get one.
