I've just bought a second hand one LL. I wanted a deus lite as a back up to the ctx and for "speed hunting" at rallies, after witnessing the fast recovery the deus has, however a good deal came up and I got the full deus for £650 used. The ctx has been sent for repair as its a bit poorly so I'm currently on a steep learning curve at the minute. No great finds as yet but impressed with the tiny fragments it winkles out! I've got deus, control, ws4 headphones and 9" coil. The ctx will always be number 1 but you got to love how lightweight the deus is.

I bought a full deus set up last week , was genuinely interested in what the fuss was all about , have only used it for a couple of hours , it's a very different steed to the Etrac , remarkably fast recovery in comparison , but lacks the tonal info , however I don't know what I'm doing with it . Looking forward to getting to grips with it. I got the 11" coil with mine plus control box .
With both machines should be ready for anything

The full would be my choice, well is actually, as it gives the user the full potential of what the DEUS has to offer. I've got the 11" coil, which is great on larger sites where you need to cover the ground and where it's not really busy on the signals but lately I've been wondering if the 9" coil would be better on the smaller iron infested sites that I've got permission on. I put this to Gary on the XP training day and he agreed that the 9 is indeed better for getting amongst the iron. I then tried his Deus and 9 inch coil and it was really nimble compared to the 11. Don't get me wrong though, the 11 has found me some great goodies in the iron but I'm looking forward to going back over these areas with the 9, if I get one! I did mention to the wife that a 9 incher would be of great benefit and she said I know the feeling!
Bloody woman
I think it was Saxman that said that all the coils have their uses, depending on the site. What sites you are on would determine the coil needed- I think the 11 is a bit of a compromise between the 9 and the 13.

Forging ahead with my trustee Deus!

I'm really glad you posted this as I'm new to the forum and can't get up and running properly until I've got the ten posts in but this was my exact question.
Think after all that's been said I'll be going for the full version with the 11 inch coil as I mostly do pasture at the moment but with the option to pick up a 9 inch coil later.
I'm hoping to do this in August when i retire until then I'll stick with the T2
In the meantime I probably need to keep my eyes open for a secondhand package but it worries me that I might get a dud unless I know the owner...
