Thank you for the replies jcm & sj.
I'll give it a try now I know how to set it up. I think I'd better stick with conductive first as that's what I'm used to but I'll program in the ferrous too so I can give it a try later.
Thanks again.

Thanks again for the info, I've had a little success running with no discrim and have just posted some pics in the Identification of Finds section here:-
(http://www.metaldetectingforum.co.uk/vi ... 20&t=80245)

I did try both but preferred the Conductive tones over the Ferrous. That's what I've been used to for over 2 years so is a hard habit to break but in Ferrous I'm sure it would be just as easy to pick out the goodies once you were used to it.
It did get a bit noisy in places where there was contamination but I stuck with it and will carry on with the clear screen, thank you! ::g

Great work & great finds.
Lots of people think Minelabs "don`t work" amongst iron but they do if there isn`t any discrim. Just listen for the "bumphs" amongst the iron. ::g

Nice one jcm. I've enjoyed trying a new setup with the SE Pro. I do have gathered a few machines now and while this machine may not be the quickest I do trust it will do me well. I have found many hammies with it with the discrim and hope to find many more without! :D
Thanks again and happy hunting!

Assume you don't have the manual.

Just push the detect button until it cycles round to the smart screen.

Press menu then options then response for fast and deep settings.

To select manual or auto setting push the middle arrow to left of screen to turn it on or off it is on when line is circling the sens number.

Thanks guys, can anyone post a screen shot of how they set up smart find i.e whats blanked out etc. Im slowly getting used to it but i use the normal screen with numbers at the moment. About to post a couple of finds form sunday for ident, hammered gave a very 'iffy' signal and what looks ike a noble coin weight came up like a solid silver. Am i doing this right??
