Any of the east/north east beaches producing?

Post by andyb »

Hi all, short notice but hopefully someone can help.

I bought myself another cscope 4pi the other week after deciding I missed beach detecting quite a bit. I was wondering if anyone had tried either cleethorpes, Bridlington, Filey or Scarborough beaches lately and if they had any luck? I have been out of the beach game for a couple of years now so I have not really kept up to date with the sand movement. I will be off to one of these venues tomomorrow for the morning/midday tide if anyone else is out :)

Hi Andy,

I realise my reply will probably be too late and you'll be on the sand by now!

I was walking around Filey beach last week and got talking to a couple of guys who were detecting on there. They were quite chatty and helpful and had a few coins to show. Once of them did complain there was still a bit too much sand on the beach but his mate reckoned that was his excuse for not finding much!

I don't detect beaches so I couldn't tell if the sand was high or not! These guys were at the top end of the beach past the slipway for the boats, so they must have a bit of local knowledge.

Good luck, Chris

Hi Andy, hope you managed to get out somewhere on a beach today.

I have not been on a beach for a while so do not know what is happening on them. I retired in Feb and was looking to get out on the beach more after doing all the big jobs that needed doing around the house and garden. Got down to the last couple of jobs and managed to crack a rib fitting an new oven a month ago B| Will be at least another month before I am swinging again.

We will have to meet up again when I am fit, good luck with the new detector.

Hi Ray, I ended up at Bridlington south and it was crap to be honest mate. I could instantly tell that there was to much sand built up and dug a test hole at the lowest point I could see and could not even dig down to black sand. The groynes at the south of the sewage pipe were only about 2 inches above the sand and if I remember rightly they used to be quite protruded from the sand level. I stayed for roughly an hour scavenging the lowest points I could find for a total bounty of 4 ring pulls haha. Roll on the winter storms ::g

Hope the rib heals soon and you get out detecting

Ouch! Ray, Hope it improves soon to allow a full session (detecting)! ::g
If you don't already use a 'bungie' of some sort, now may be the time, as it would help the 'healing' process. Good Luck - Regards ss47
