Upgrading

Post by shamenlong »

Hi guys for the last year i have been using a minelab gofind 40 but now i am in the process of looking to upgrade to something mid range that wil do beach and land .
i have looked at two machines in particular first one being the x-teraa705 and the second one being the cscope 6mxi ,
but here is were i am unsure as i have heard that both machines were not thast great on wet beach
and my particular location the beach is heavly laidened with iron and the obligatory bottle caps ring pulls and foil and tin cans , but speaking to other guys who do the beach with different machines ranging from the deus to extrac to a sovereighn most say better finds are found further off the beach

in the thick heavy black mineralised mud but sadly the minelab 40 goes into a melt down when i tried it .
any help and advice i do not have a massive budget around the £500 mark thanks in advance.
finds so far with the go find40
3 lighters
3 peices of junk jewellery
1 pair reading glasses
2 pairs sun glasses
1 george v penny
3 kids toy cars
and around £70 in spendable

Any of the minelab multi frequency machines all great on wet sand dry sand also work as good inland to.
I have always been a fan and use the sovereign machine slow recovery speed but in my eyes the best beach machine . For your £500 budget you will get a cracking used machine ::g

You could get a secondhand Whites DFX for around £300. I used one on the beaches for a long time and found loads with it. Also did well inland, the first week I had it I found my first Roman coins.

Get a decent used ExpII or E-Trac. ::g

Although the 705 punch`s above its weight the other 2 will outperform pretty much anything else for use on beach & land.

The sacrifice of using FBS on the beach is that you will have to sloooowww down if its iron infested & not use any discrimination just use the tones and your ears to hear the positive signals amongst the iron.

I had a 6 mxi. Wouldn't overalls recommend it. On stubble it Woz very sparky with brushing the stubble. Turned it up and down to no avail. Went on a rally near a train line it's great it'll tell u when the train Woz coming about 20 seconds before. Same with power lines interference. Also had a 4 pi for the beach. Not impressed with that either. Sold it. It could of been I Woz very un lucky as they were both second hand !!!
Dues-blisstool for land and a Garrett sea hunter for wet/ dry beach at present. The Garrett will pick up bits of glass with the re inforcement wire in it ! Dues ok on dry but wet didn't seem to get much depth hence the Garrett. My mate has a Tesoro Cibola and generally gets more than me but he's like a hare off into the distance so covers more ground. English version would be a trident 1. Ok on dry sand but not brill on wet A sov gt would suit all if u trust s/h 2 on gumtree in Norfolk area at mo. £375 I think. x; x; x; junior

Depending on where you are. For £500 the Garrett AT Pro would be
Worth having a look at. I used one for 2 years and had lots of finds when beach detecting. I did a few videos on YouTube which shows how much it can find on wet and dry sand.

Hi shamenlong , I've got to say what roamingrob doesn't know about the atpro,on the beach ain't worth knowing , I watched this fellas videos and on the strength of how this fella showed the ease of use and it's love of finding pound coins on the beach I bought a new one 21\2 years ago and I just love this machine , this guy even sent me his phone number so I could call him up if I wanted to chat about settings among other things , so watch his YouTube vids , and then tell me you don't live the atpro ::g ::g :D
