River adur in shoreham

Post by essexray78 »

Hi all
I'm just back into detecting, and got myself a ace 250. Has anyone on here detected along this stretch of the river?. Me and my mate have been reading up and found maps showing all the river defence in place to protect the airport during ww2. Wondered if it's worth trying or not.

Hi,
I had a poke around the town bridge a few summers ago. Didnt find much but there was loads of iron as youd expect.
Got to be worth a go if you have the time.

i was just walking at low tide, not metal detecting. There are signs saying no digging in the banks but not sure about the river bed as there are plenty of anglers that bait there.

Think the river bed is owned by southern water no detecting on there land / bait digging aloud because of bank erosion they say and Adur council has the same on there website

The river bed going north from Norfolk bridge is owned by the duke of Norfolk estate .I've been in touch with them to gain access to their land ( I failed) . The banks/ foot paths are desperately owned by the adjacent land owners so makes tracing them a nightmare. Shame as Stoneham airport were keen to see if we found anything they could add to their museum. Still off for my first session detecting in 6 years down Worthing beach in the morning
