I went on the Rotary rally today in Cumbria, it was my first time using the V4 update. I used the GMP mode, the new hot programme and also had a brief go on the deep. My first observations are that the machine appears to be able to identify iron much better than what the 3.2 version did. This also applied to hot rocks and coke, although a tightly wound piece of foil did fool me at one point. The hot program was indicating a vertical line but the tone sounded good so I dug but it was indeed foil.
The depth on GMP seems to have been improved as well. I have never had a Victorian half penny at 14 inches on pasture with numbers on the display and tones so clear using the 11" coil. It must of taken me a good 5 minutes to locate the target as once I got past 12 inches I thought this must be a large object or a small object near the surface and I have messed up on the pinpointing. But no, I gasped in disbelief when the final shovel load from straight down yielded a coin.
When I got to around a foot depth, I asked another Deus user to go over the hole and when he too got a very good diggable signal using V4 he said I was spot on. I noted at the time that the ground balance was 86 and I had left the ground balance on tracking. Maybe it was one of those times when everything was set up perfectly to maximise depth but throughout the day the GMP mode seemed to be pulling coins at much greater depth than what I have been used to.
All in all, it was a resounding thumbs up from me on the new V4 update.

I was out on a club dig today using V4.
All the other folks were using V3.2.
Our finds rate was about the same.
I guess that V4 has to be the way forward, but it a personal choice.

Additional frequency range for the tones, should you wish to go into expert under the discrimination then you can increase the audio range up to 993Khz. This makes a significant difference to the pitch and under 3 or 4 tones you can clearly separate the mid range and high range targets.
In addition to this, the negative discrimination makes the iron grunt a definite sound. No peeps of whistles. I use this at a setting of -3.1 and in conjunction with the XY screen can pretty much identify iron and walk away from it.
Kind Regards

I tried v4 over my test bed the week end and woz actually hitting more of the 6 targets wether its theyve been in the ground 3 months extra from when last tested on 3.2 who knows. Tryied the x-y screen no real movement on the axis s but there wos a diggable sound especially when in 8khz compared to same prog on 12 khz.

I have also found that my Garrett Carrot doesn't interfere as much with the Deus when I am using it. There is still interference but no where near as bad as when I was using V3.2. I love V4, especially the hodograph line on the new hot program - really identifies well hot rocks, foil and iron.

I too have found the depth of targets has increased but the best about v4 for me is the mi6 pointer,
I have hearing loss and it was hard to hear the Garrett pin pointer, were as the mi6 is as good or I would say better not just cuz I can hear it in my headphones but because it pinpoints better.

I've had a few coins at 10 inches on solid pasture recently using the v4 on deep. But gave up on a couple of signals Sunday thinking deep iron or a false signal. After reading your post I wish I kept digging! I will from now on.

Going by what ive burried and obviously and knowing what ive burried if going by the numbers or the x-y i wont of bothered even the tones are ok one way but iffy another its proved if it sounds goodish even 1 way dig it. All targets are burried flat and not on edge etc. Make u think how much have we dissed as iron where its just that bit of nearly being out of detect range !! .
