Hi,
I'm struggling with the pinpoint feature.. and my holes appear to be getting out of hand..could someone with the detector please clarify exactly where the centre is .. when using the pinpoint..

Hi Omar,
My holes were getting a bit out of hand but found when you press the pinpoint button if you run in one direction and then in the other to an "X" shape you can then work out where to dig - X marks the spot - sorry if its obvious but it was one of my early errors
I also use the CS3 MX pinpoint button to gauge the size of the find so I don't dig so much big iron.
When motion detecting I have the discrimination set to 3-4 then once I have a signal I temporarily adjust up to 7 as pound coins still signal at that level and any big iron sounds intermitent small iron not heard at all.
You can also use the CS3 MX pinpoint to re-find very small finds such as half hammereds when they are suddenly lost when digging as it seems even more sensitive - runs without discrimination.
Run a garden test with some of your finds to try out all the above.
To solve pinpointing problems as I had a few in the side wall I then bought the Garrett Pro-pointer which speeds the process up, but not before trying the Draper which was not good not enough range was only about 25mm 1", but for £12 what do you expect;-)
I like the CS3 MX but wish there were different tones for iron.

Well what I have been doing it pushing the pinpoint button.. and then slowly moving the over until I get the loudest constant bleep.. and dig there.. i usually dig a bit deeper.. and then sart digging outwards lol.
Going to try not to dig up my garden anymore.. it will start to look a right mess.. i'll have to take a trip down the beach..
maybe I should have gone for the Ace 250 or Euro Ace.. i dunno

Dont doubt your machine mate....
When digging a hole most of us use a spade and dig a "3 sided plug", using the 4th edge as a hinge...
I usualy dig the 3 sides the width of my spade, flip the plug over, find the target and then stamp the plug back down.....with practice its hard to see that you've been there...
One thing, if you can master the different "changes on tone" of the 3mx then you will be able to master any machine....
Get some things together and try and learn the different tones with different targets...
Get a few pre deciaml coins, they are unmistakable...
Find some ring pulls....they are annoying but must not be ignored as hammered coinage comes in on the same sound (ish)
Find a rusty nail or small rusty object...play with this item the most....this is the sound you need to learn and learn to ignore......
For pinpointing practice bury a coin approx 4" deep....
Place a plastic marker exactly over the centre of the coin....
The keep pinpointing until you get it dead centre every time...
And then enjoy.....

cheers for the brill advice..will give it another go tomorrow..I'v only had the machine since monday.. so i havent got a clue yet..

Viccy pennys are one of the worst culprits for throwing your pinpoint off centre...
If they are slightly tilted then the coin will direct the signal back at an angle...
Out of all the coins i find the viccy pennys always end up in the sidewall somewhere....

I have recently bought the garrett euro ace and I'm having the same problem, its not the machines mate its uslol, I'm sure practise will make perfect soon, I hope or I'm buying a JCB to make sure I don't put the shovel through the target...

hey omar get a good set of headphones and use the same ones all the time ,that ll help too.even changing to different headphones can throw your listening a bit...

You can always try keeping the coil 6 inches off the ground, i have found this can help.
