Garrett pointer falsing?
Been on the beach a lot during the past few days and my pinpointer starts buzzing when nothing is there. If I turn it off and on its seems fine. Its never been wet is just a bit dusty from sand. I've recently put a lanyard ring under the cap so mebbe is that?

I don't use my pin-pointer on the beach as I find targets easier to locate without. Although you haven't specified wet or dry sand, I would have thought that the problem was most likely to be the result of either salt water wet sand or the 'empty' hole phenomena. This link will hopefully throw some light on the subject of empty holes. Good Luck - Regards ss47

Have you tried it lately without the lanyard. As the battery is directly under the cap you may have upset the connection.
I had a bad connection on mine when I first bought it so packed it out with a bit o card.
When I then attached a lanyard the bit of card had to become 3 bits of card.
Plus, don’t forget if you stick the pointer in wet sand it will tell there’s something there even when there isn’t.

I remember when I first got mine. After some use it started to beep even after moving it away from metal, but worked for a bit again after turning off. Solution? Rubbish supplied batteries. Worked perfectly after decent duracell. Worth a try.
