I just like doing it, no matter how many times I dig them. But there is a reason for this I suppose as I know eventually something decent will turn up. Getting to know a beach or anywhere for that matter, can give you an insight into the history of the place. This scrappy beach does produce pre-vic coins with regularity, but not many. I have had several early large milled silver here and a gold is sure to be on the list at some point, hence my returning visits. This time three clapped out Georgian but one turned out to be a Russian Kopek from 1730, tumbled up quite well. The other a not so common silver is an 1873 Gothic, uncleaned yet. All the coins and scrap gets sorted into bags & weighed in every year, it amounts to quite a decent sum really. Brass scrap is shown, lead was quite a lot more. There is plenty of posts of field finds, so I thought I might throw a few in this section whenever possible.

Well done.
At the moment I am trying to reclaim my shed from all the plastic bags full of scrap and finds that have piled up there since the summer.

Great post and photos
I never mind a beach session finding crusty coins, the gothic florins are my favourite milled silver and that kopek is a very interesting find and in relatively good condition considering its age
