GM1 or GM1+

Post by dafin »

Hello!

I have been looking forum for main difference between GM1 and GM1+ but couldn't find it.
I am new to metal detecting and I don't know what is better for me. I was looking at GM1+ 18khz dual tone with 10,5 inch DD coil, which seems a pretty good deal to me beacuse I want coins and gold ( ;)) ;)) ). What is difference in depth between 1 or 1+ with 10,5" dd coil? What do you suggest for beginning? Maybe any other detector?

I want to know the pros and cons betwen 1 and 1+. I want to look for things older than 1900, which is better?

And one more question: how does disc function work? I know that disc level 2 discriminate old rusty nails, but what about other 7 levels? For example; if I search on disc level 6, what will I discriminate?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Dafin

If you have a choice go for the Golden Mask One-15 with the rechargeable battery pack and wireless headphones, easy to use, very deep and visual display. I have one as back-up to my Deus and can highly recommend it.

hello, you better off with a golden mask 1 24 Khz for those type of items, for me the GM 1 15 is more suitable for UK, you will disc out out a lot of items on 6, just get a rusty nail and put under coil while you turn up disc until it nulls out , dig everything else, large pieces of iron or horse shoes do get through some times, these are good detectors, i tested my GM plus 1 to see if a rusty nail next to a silver coin would only detect the coin and it did, they recover well after false sounds, do not detect fast, slower and good ground cover is the way to go.

I have been waiting for over two weeks for a GM One (with the display) to come into stock in the UK, and after all that they only have them with wireless headphones ! I don't like to use headphones and really don't want to pay the extra £50 for something I don't need. I get a lot of large iron where I detect and the graph on the GM One shows this up so that's why I would go for that instead of the GM1 or 1+.

All Golden Mask series 1 are the same just different frequencies
8 kHz = GM1
18 kHz = GM1+
15 kHz = GM1+ UK

makes no difference. All will find pre 1900s if its there to find.

not to be confused with the "GM One" series which is a different model range

Thanks for response, people who have bought it, what's your experience? Did you buy it locally or order from Bulgaria? How's warranty?

I have had a play with a GM1+

does what it says on the tin

discrimination needs to be as low as possible. After iron the next to go small gold and thin targets.

Also discrimination affects depth. Not so much in air test. But small objects in the ground especially if they are on edge.

It's sometimes the case that a manufacturer will state that the warranty is not transferable, whether it is sold within the warranty period or not. It's a matter for the individual to ensure they are fully aware of the warranty terms. Hope this helps ::g Regardsss47

I purchased a GM+1 UK - 28khz. Upgraded coil to the GM S Super Search Coil - 13inch. Its an ace machine so far. Lucky that on my one permission I'm at least 15miles from another person so I don't bother with the headphone, especially in this scorching weather!
