Hey Nigel and readers,
I managed to go for a few hours this morning, Using the settings you recommended Nigel,
They really calmed it down, I was worried about lowering the sensitivity, so much so I only lowered it from 90 down to 85 LOL! but even that seem to quieten it down considerably.
I managed to winkle a cut half and a full hammered farthing ( I think ) its small anyway.
Ill put them up in a bit.
Also had a few nice copper alloy mounts and the usual loads of tiny / small lead.
Im a Happy Chappy !!

Thats been a concearn of mine too, I avoid using the Deus on new sites incase I get in a tangle with things and end up doing No detecting, because Im unable to alter the correct settings to match the sites conditions.
So I tend to take my old minelab out on new sites until I know what Im up against.
Phil.
Hi Ed, never be frightened by the Deus, it won't bite and unless you intentionaly go to programs, save and then ignore the prompt you can't overwrite anything by mistake, even if you did, simply go to restore and it will do so to that program only & only then after it again prompts you, "are you sure" Y/N.
If anyone is unsure about going into what appears to be a complex machine my advice would be to sit down with a cuppa, instruction manual to hand and bench test your machine, this brings me onto the the manual nicely........
It's that paper booklet that you flicked through after assembling the Deus and couldn't work out the single coil washer system so you looked it up :g time to start reading, now that you've got a few hours under the belt it will make so much more sense, if there's anything you aren't sure about please ask (phone is so much quicker)

Hi Ferret,
I thought that Id never get a better machine than what Id got, Until I got a Deus.
1st off I thought it was cr*p but it was me and not the machine.
Once youve got used to it, I dont think it can be bettered.
Super light, super fast, super programme choice ( not that ive tried them all yet ) and plenty of scope to change the settings within the programmes to fine tune it for your sites.
I keep my old machine for emergencies Only now.
Good luck with it when you get yours.
Phil.

Thanks for the advice I felt that in the same way with the Euro last year. Now I have spent many hours and found lots with it i'm only going to buy another machine as my other half would like to start up Mding. So for me I get an upgrade and another machine and she gets a fab machine that I could also use as backup :g

Its NOT just about the Hammereds !!!!!
Here are just a few of the bits n bobs that have come off this very difficult site of mine.
Spent ages cleaning and waxing them, but the time flies when your having fun.
I just hope the photo does them justice, ( as you know how good I am at taking them NOT ! )
Hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoyed finding, cleaning them.

Hi Oliver,
Firstly I let the finds dry out, then with an old firm to hard toothbrush I brush off
all the soil etc, this also makes them shine a little,
I then ( with another soft toothbrush ) apply a coating of " Renaissance " wax
let it dry for a hour or two, then with a clean dry and soft toothbrush I buff them up.
Yes you need at least 3 toothbrushes, but it does do a cracking job of not only preserving your finds it also gives them a lovely finish.
You can get Renaissance wax from the auction site off here, or you can get it off ebay.

Hi all, have been looking back over the older topics and once you start doing that, time flies!
I have resurrected this topic for two reasons. One is that I am a Deus owner and it has some really useful information and also that it is a super example of how this forums members support each other. I am still "learning" the Deus, have had some great finds and still tend to default to GMP! Because the Deus is noted for its electrifing recovery speed, I think many owners will be racing around their fields, but they forget that their brains then have to analyse the signals twice as fast and they may lose out on many targets that would have appeared at "normal" speed.
Great topic, Liam

Barrie, pity you have not yet used the Deus inland, any reasons for that? Maybe a shortage of land? Good luck anyway, its an expensive machine not to test out properly, Liam

What a brilliant thread, so interesting. I too had problems with my
T2 SE After nine months of fighting with it finally bit the bullet
and changed to the Deus.wow what a difference.
Silent detecting, finds have increased and I still dont know what I am doing.
I really look forward to going out again and my permissions are now new ones
thanks to the Deus.
If I have a blank day I know it's me. Still a lot to learn and experiment with.
I am about 6 months in now and looking forward to the next 20 years

Yes good thread i now use Deus on the beach and mud searching on the rivers and find it to be one of the best that i have used on iron infested sites and i have used many types from the early days of BFO up to the latest types. The thing i like about the Deus is the lightness switch on and go and all the other settings you can play with and you can use in the wet only thing i miss is using to search under the water have tried the Ariel set up but found to be very iffy on targets.
